Downey, CA… Humane education programs and
instilling compassion into our children are valuable components of
any animal welfare agency’s outreach program.
The Southeast Area Animal Control Authority
(SEAACA) is seeking donations for its "Adopt-A-Classroom" program,
where any classroom can receive humane educational materials for one
year.
Each "adopted" classroom will receive monthly
bundles of "Kind News," a newspaper for students that promotes
humane attitudes toward animals through stories, puzzles and
projects. “In today’s environment of violence on TV and in video
games, it’s important to expose children to a softer, more humane
approach to life and our environment,” says Dan Morrison, executive
director at SEAACA.
A 60-page teaching guide and Kind Club student cards accompany each
issue of the newsletter.
The materials are appropriate for grades one
through six, and sponsors can choose a teacher of their choice or
"adopt" a school, and the agency will select a classroom to receive
the materials.
Donations are only $25 per class. “This is a
small price to pay for such a valuable curriculum,” stated Morrison.
“A more compassionate classroom leads to a more compassionate
world…and the kids in classrooms today are our future,” Morrison
exclaimed. |
