It took more than
unseasonably hot weather to keep more than 400 people and their pets
away from the Bell Gardens Pet Fair last Saturday at Bell Gardens
Veterans Park. A first in SEAACA's service area, the event was
billed a tremendous success by SEAACA and city staff alike.
Valuable
services offered included free spay/neuter vouchers and veterinary
exams, low cost vaccinations, $5.00 microchips (231 pets were
implanted), pet licensing and adoptions (200 pets overall, seven
from SEAACA.)
Fair-goers were
greeted by KMEX morning news anchor Francisco Pinto, who spent two
hours chatting with participants. Bumptown provided live music which
added to the Fair's celebratory feel.
"We're very
pleased with the turnout and know local residents recognize this as
a valuable service" said Dan Morrison, Executive Director for
SEAACA. "I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Bell
Garden's Finance Director Misty Cheng, their city staff, SEAACA
Commissioner and Mayor Pro-Tem Pedro Aceituno, my staff and the
event sponsors for their tireless efforts that made Pet Fair
possible." |
