NORWALK CHIHUAHUA IS ONE LUCKY DOG!

Downey, CA …Giving birth is an amazing experience for man and animal! Unfortunately, when there are complications the results are often tragic. One lucky 4-year old Chihuahua from Norwalk named "Susie" was very pregnant and faced with a life threatening situation caused by a very difficult birthing process last weekend. She gave birth to one stillborn puppy but was unable to deliver the second pup, which became stuck inside of her.

Susie's owner, Martha Noriega and her daughter Elizabeth, brought Susie in to SEAACA to have her humanely euthanized, after it was determined that she was suffering and in a perilous health situation with the deceased fetus stuck inside of her.

After signing her over to the agency a concerned clerk asked SEAACA's veterinarian, Brad Brunskill, DVM, if he'd give Susie a look before she was put down. "When I saw her she was very tired but alert, so I felt that she'd be a good candidate to spay which could possibly save her life," said Brunskill. "Susie's family was extremely distraught and that made an impassioned impression on the SEAACA clerk who helped them."

Susie's family went home thinking she had been relieved of her suffering, but had no idea the manner in which her suffering was alleviated behind the scenes at SEAACA. It was accomplished through the skilled and compassionate hands of SEAACA's veterinarian.

When SEAACA called the family the following morning to tell them the good news about Susie, the family again sobbed … this time in happiness. They came and picked her up the following morning and hugged the staff, sharing more tears of joy!

"Miracles do happen, but more often than not our staff is be behind the great stories involving our animal friends here at SEAACA," said Dan Morrison, executive director for SEAACA. "We were thrilled to see this family get their little girl back safe and sound."
