Downey, CA… Spring time is here…a season where
many may be considering adopting a new pet. The Southeast Area
Animal Control Authority (SEAACA) and the new Petsmart store in
Downey have teamed up to find homes for dozens of shelter pets this
weekend in honor of the 2006 Spring National Adoption Weekend, a
Petsmart program geared to bring attention to shelter pets. The
adoption event is scheduled for May 5th, 6th and 7th at the Petsmart
store located at 12126 Lakewood Blvd. in Downey in the new Downey
landing shopping center.
“SEAACA staff and volunteers will be on-hand
with a mix of great dogs and cats in need of good homes,” said Dan
Morrison, executive director for SEAACA. “The animals will be spayed
or neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped which makes them ready to
go their new home with no fuss,” stated Morrison. Additionally,
Petsmart will be providing a bag of premium pet food, and a New Pet
& Parent Guide to all new adoptees! Prices are $100.00 and $90.00
for female and male dogs respectively, and $60.00 for a cat.
Store hours are 9am to 9pm on Friday and
Saturday, and 10am to 6pm on Sunday. SEAACA will be on location with
adoptable pets until all pets are adopted for that day. Remember,
this a three-day event.
SEAACA and Petsmart encourage everyone thinking
of adding a loveable companion pet to their family to adopt a
shelter pet! “These are amazing animals that only want the
opportunity to show how loving and loyal they are, exclaimed
Morrison.
