Downey, CA
…Billed as the largest pet fair of its kind in the
United States, staff and volunteers from the Southeast Area Animal
Control Authority (SEAACA) in Downey took nearly two dozen adoptable
shelter pets to the O.C Pet Fair this past weekend, held at the
Orange County Fair grounds in Costa Mesa.
“It was an amazing experience to be surrounded by so
many animal welfare people and some very sweet dogs and cats looking
for good homes,” said Vicky Hernandez, adoptions manager for SEAACA.
“Everyone visiting our booth was an animal lover. They hung out,
talked with us or played with the pets we brought to the show.”
SEAACA adopted 17 animals into new homes, bringing a
sense of relief and happiness to the staff and volunteers who worked
ten-hour days at the fair. “I wish they’d hold these pet fairs a few
times a year, since we had such good adoption results,” Hernandez
stated. “Sometimes the right formula for increasing pet adoptions is
taking the animals to the community, just like we did at the fair.”
SEAACA still has plenty of wonderful pets looking for
life-long, loving homes at their Downey based animal care center.
