Downey, CA … With the holidays right around the
corner, and the spirit of gift giving in full swing, the Southeast
Area Animal Control Authority (SEAACA) in Downey would like to offer
some gift-giving advise, particularly if the gift is a pet. "Pets
generally do not make good gifts for a number of reasons," said Dan
Morrison, executive director of SEAACA. "This is true mainly because
they require care and a commitment for roughly 15 years, and may
need some extra training or have special medical needs that can be
taxing on their new family/owner," Morrison stated.
Avoid the temptation to give a pet as a gift this
year. Instead, come to SEAACA and purchase a holiday gift
certificate -- good for a pet adoption, which includes the first set
of vaccinations, neutering and a microchip. It's proven that pets
stand a better chance of becoming a life-long addition to a family
if actually selected personally by the new adopter. Adoption
certificates cost $60.00 for cats, $90.00 for male dogs and $100.00
for female dogs.
SEAACA's animal care center is open for pet adoptions
Tuesday thru Friday 11 to 6 and on Saturday from 10 to 5. Holiday
pet adoption gift certificates are available at the front counter
now thru December 24th. SEAACA is located at 9777 Seaaca St. in
Downey, near the intersection of Woodruff Ave. and Imperial Hwy.
Happy Holidays from all of us at SEAACA! |
