Live Puppy Left in Bell Gardens Dumpster

Bell Gardens, CA An injured Shepherd puppy was found in a cardboard box inside a trash dumpster in the city of Bell Gardens Monday evening, May 7. The approximately four-month old, black-and-tan male puppy was found whimpering in the trash dumpster by an employee of LANG ROOFING in Bell Gardens, who then immediately called SEAACA for assistance. “When our officer arrived on scene, the dog was resting on a blanket and had been given food and water by the roofing company employees,” said Captain Aaron Reyes, director of operations at SEAACA.

“The dog was immediately transported to a local veterinarian for treatment, but had to be euthanized due to its injuries (internal trauma and shock), Reyes stated. Roofing company employees were saddened this morning to hear that the puppy had to be euthanized, but understood because of the poor physical shape the pup was in.

“Abandoning an injured live animal in this manner is not only a crime, it’s immoral and inexcusable,” continued Reyes. “The responsible and humane option would have been to call SEAACA, or the local police department or city hall, who would then forward the call to SEAACA. Imagine the agony the puppy was feeling … first from its injuries then with being left for dead in a trash dumpster … incredibly inhumane.”

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call SEAACA’s Investigations Division at (562) 803-3301 x223 or by emailing areyes@seaaca.org.
